Adam Everett re-signing with Detroit a win for Tigers
The Tigers have brought shortstop Adam Everett back for the 2010 season, which is a great idea for multiple reasons. I wholeheartedly endorse this deal.
- He's not Bobby Crosby.
- Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported on Twitter Everett signed for a paltry $1.55 million. Compared to the deal already given out, that's a great amount. For a guy projected to be among the top fielding shortstops next season, it's quite a bargain even if his bat seems a bit lacking.
- It's just a one-year deal, allowing the Tigers the option to go with shortstop Cale Iorg in 2011 if he makes the steps forward necessary during his 2010 minor league season. And if he doesn't, they'll have a bigger budget for signing or trading for a shortstop next offseason.
