Clay Rapada sold to Rangers, Brad Thomas inks deal

  • Right-handed pitcher Zach Simons was outrighted off the roster. He'll catch on somewhere, I imagine.
  • Lefty itcher Clay Rapada was traded to the Texas Rangers for cash, AOL Fanhouse's Frankie Piliere reports on Twitter.
  • Lefty pitcher Brad Thomas signed a deal for unannounced terms with the Tigers. Thomas pitched in Korea for the past two years with a 5-11 record, 2.44 ERA and 44 saves. He had 119 batters in 113 1/3 innings, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.

"Thomas has performed well over the past two seasons in Korea and we are pleased to add a quality arm like him to our club," team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski said in a statement. "He was a highly regarded prospect earlier in his career with the Twins organization, and we feel he will contribute out of the bullpen at the Major League level."The Tigers annonced a trio of pitching changes for the 40-man roster on Monday.
